Cary Bulls Baseball began in 1997. A team of 15 year old players was started to bridge the gap for an age group that had no place to play in the Cary, NC area. Coaches, operating on hard work and determination, asked the Durham Bulls minor League team for donations of old uniforms, and the Bulls were borne. The first 2 years the Bulls played in many AAU tournaments, as well as competed in the NC State Games. Through support of the Cary American Legion Post 67, the Bulls were a hit. As a way to distinguish from the Post 67 American Legion team, the Bulls were referred to as the "junior" team. The Bull became the 1st American Junior Legion program in North Carolina. Junior Legion baseball in NC started with 15 teams and has grown to over 100 teams.
The Bulls benefits from strong organizational support from the American Legion, both locally and nationally, as well as the local community and parent, past and present.

Many traditions have developed over the history of the Bulls' program. Players take pride in those traditions and continue to set new ones. Running of the Bulls was started in 1997, as starting players line up and run through home plate to take their positions. In 2006, the Bulls started a new tradition. Pre-game for American Legion ballgames, both teams take to the foul lines to repeat the code of sportsmanship and honor America during the National Anthem. The 2006 Bulls were coaxed to "sing along". Only a few players started, but by the end of the season, the entire team took great pride in the Singing of our National Anthem. The Bulls program is very proud of the traditions of the program.
