With both teams facing elimination, the Bulls took on Aycock in round 3.  The first 3 innings were a classic pitcher’s duel.  Williams got the start for the Bulls and pitched the first 3 innings, giving up a lone single in the second inning which was immediately erased by a stellar double play by Hamm at shortstop.  The Aycock pitcher faced one more batter in the first 3 innings giving up back to back singles in the 3rd before getting the final out on a fly out to right field.  VanGenderen came on in relief in the bottom of the 4th and pitched into the 7th giving up only 2 hits.  Povse came on in the 7th with 2 runners on.  After giving up back to back singles to the first two batters he faced, Povse settled in to get 2 ground outs and a strike out to end the Aycock threat, with the Bulls emerging as 5-3 victors.  Offensively, Grudee was 2-4 with 1R.  Schrock was 2-4 with 2R, 2B, 1 RBI.  McKinney was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.  Betts was 1-4.  Hamm reached on an error and scored.  Byrd was 1-2 with a sac.  Ruth was 1-3 with 1 RBI. The Bulls lost a heartbreaker to Mooresville 3-2 with a walk off single in the bottom of the 7th.  The Bulls jumped on the scoreboard in the top of the 1st after Grudee and Schrock both walked, chasing the Mooresville starter from the game.  Snotherly singled to plate the first run.  McKinney bunted the runners over, before Mooresville intentionally walked Byrd to load the bases.  Ruth singled to right to score Schrock.  Snotherly was thrown out at the plate after tagging on a fly ball to end the inning.  Those would be the only 2 runs that the Bulls could manage stranding 4 runners over the next 6 innings.  Schrock was 2-3 with 1R, and a BB.  Snotherly had 1 RBI.  Ruth was 2-3 with 1 RBI.  McKinney added a single and had 1 sac, and 1 BB.  Joe Pistacchio got the start for the Bulls and went the distance in a stellar performance.  Pistacchio pitched out of several jams getting timely strikeouts and a solid performance from his defense with no errors in the game.  Mooresville scored 1 run in the first off of 3 back to back singles.  They did not manage to score again until the bottom of the 6th to tie the score at 2.  Mooresville had the top of their order up in the bottom of the 7th.  The leadoff batter singled before Pistacchio struck out the second batter, and got the 3rd batter to pop out to Hamm.  Back to back singles to the next two batters would plate the winning run and end the Bulls season.  While the loss was disappointing, this team has nothing to hang their heads over.  They had an incredible season with a great run at the State Championships.  Congratulations to the team and the coaches on a fantastic season!!
